About Us
The Latin American Dance
Association (LADA) was established in 30th June, 1996. It was found
by a diverse group of people whoes common passion is latin American
dancing, at that time it was led by Walter Alvarez.
It is the longest running
latin dance school in Australia and is a non-profit organisation which
has been sponsoring World Vision Children since 1998.
The late dance icon Jose
Prates was head teacher and taught for LADA from 1997 until his passing
in 2004.
LADA has contributed
in many ways to the development of the latin dance scene in Sydney.
All of LADA's instructors and many of Sydney's prominent dancers had
their beginnings with LADA and Jose Prates.
The organisation remains
strong and continues to nurture and promote traditional forms of latin
dance.
